Connecting with community — Kat Hughes from JUMP! Bundall leads the way

We are incredibly fortunate to have franchisees on board who have such a strong passion for young children to learn to swim. Two of our fantastic franchisees have been announced finalists for franchising’s top gong!

Kat Hughes, our JUMP! Bundall franchisee and finalist for Queensland’s ‘Franchise Woman of the Year’ received her certificate at the awards ceremony in Brisbane last fortnight.  And Sheryl Anderson from JUMP! Wanneroo in Western Australia has just been announced a finalist this week. Did you know this award is usually handed out to franchisors of a business, not franchisees?

Kat opened JUMP! Swim Schools Bundall in April 2015 with her two-week-old baby Travis and his 1-year-old sister Hollie on the job with her from day one. In just two short years her swim school has grown to over 400 students, and is on track to reaching its full capacity of 500 little swimmers in 2017.

  • She has increased swimming participation and skill levels within her community and educated Mums and Dads on why learning to swim at a young age is a life-saving skill – this is her driving motivation!
  • Improving the learning ability of children and improving their confidence, to help save themselves and lower drowning statistics.
  • JUMP! Bundall is honoured to teach lots of little swimmers with special needs while introducing migrant children with English as a second language to the joys of the Aussie aquatic lifestyle.
She loves visiting early childcare centres and schools as a water safety advocate, showing them how #kidsalivedothe5!
  • Every Sunday Kat reaches out to people at Bundall Farmer’s Markets, and loves being given the opportunity to educate and encourage families to get their kids learning to swim at a young age.
  • She constantly supports local schools and fundraisers. Giving back to the community has such a positive impact!

“I started this business in 2015 with zero customers and no marketing budget, heavily pregnant with my second child and a toddler. In just two short years my swim school has grown to over 400 students, and is on track to reaching its full capacity of 500 little swimmers in 2017.

“I hope that I can inspire other women through my actions, and give them the courage to pursue their business ambitions while raising their families. To be bold and believe in yourself, and accept temporary sacrifice for long-term gain that will inspire your children,” said Kat.
