JUMP! Geraldton Muralist Makes his Mark: ACDC Live with Street Graffiti Collaboration

Check out what our muralist Luke McAvoy has been up to! He landed in Geraldton to produce an underwater-themed mural for JUMP! Swim Schools, opening soon. While he was there, he left his mark, teaming up with local artist Elle Santarelli to spray-paint a sea-inspired mural in the Outsider Gallery.

Award-winning street graffiti artist Luke McAvoy worked with leading Geraldton creative Elle Santarelli to deliver a metapohorical merman muse overlaid with a post-modern deconstruction at Outside Gallery in the laneway next to the ACDC building. From the gritty urban heartland of Footscray to winning Vacant Space in Adelaide and collaborating on the Hosier Lane street art precinct in Melbourne, the 33-year-old artist landed in Geraldton to produce an underwater-themed mural for JUMP! Swim Schools Geraldton.

“Since my beautiful daughter Bailey arrived, my artistic style and colour palette has undergone a seismic shift. Every six year-old girl loves pink and purple, and underwater themes and cartoon characters reign supreme! Bailey is my number one fan — or should I say, creative director!”

“I’m excited to return to the West Coast creating underwater wonderland murals at JUMP! Clarkson, JUMP! Joondalup and JUMP! O’Connor, all set to open in the next few months,” said Mr McAvoy, who spent time growing up in Perth’s southern river neighbourhood.

Purpose-built for babies and young children, the boutique learn to swim facility has over 200 babies and young children enrolled ahead of its May opening.

JUMP! Swim Schools is currently teaching the fun life skill to 17,000 children and babies and is renowned for its breakthrough outcomes-based curriculum that teaches babies from three months of age to master the basic elements of swimming by 12 months of age.

JUMP! has put specialised education back into learn-to-swim by crafting a tailored, competency-based program that is backed by the latest child care and teaching research and focuses on the joy or participation and parental engagement.
